Kapamilya star Liza Soberano was already crowned as the next Darna, however it seems like the competition for the best heroine look is not yet over. Recently, fans started to scream their hearts out after being stunned by how Kathryn Bernardo looked. Well, the Teen Queen once again proved that she can do more than just a drama actress. In fact, she can also rock the role of a super heroine.
Last August 20th episode of ASAP, “La Luna Sangre” star Kathryn Bernardo surprised the viewers when she appeared on stage dressed up in a Wonder Woman costume during ASAP opening production number. For many netizens, Kathryn gave the costume some justice. She rocked the look and was very hot as Gal Gadot.
Kathryn even uploaded photos of herself in the Wonderwoman costume to her Instagram account and tagged Gal Gadot on them captioning: “When you take fangirling to the next level… @gal_gadot." It is really the next level because Kathryn was a real beauty and her morena skin made many netizens think that Wonderwoman can also be a Filipina.
However, because of this production number in Wonderwoman costume, netizens could not help but compare Kathryn Bernardo as Wonderwoman to Liza Soberano as the new Darna. Some said that Kathryn’s very Filipina look is more suited for the Filipina super heroine and said that Darna should reflect the Pinay so the role should also be given to someone who looks more like an ideally Filipina, unlike with Liza who looks like a foreigner.
Not all comments are good though, because there were even negative feedbacks for the Wonderwoman impersonation, too. The bashers said that the costume is not so fitted to Kathryn because she does not look like Gal Gadot and her height is small. Some also noticed that she may be great in acting, but not in doing actino such as in fighting scenes which is in comparison to her action acting skills in La Luna Sangre. Some claimed that it is better for Liza Soberano because she is tall and has a fiercer look. Well, nevertheless, Kathryn still looks gorgeous on her Wonderwoman look and Liza still represents the millennial Darna.
