Best known as the lead vocalist of the Mocha Girls, Mocha Uson recently verbally attacked the former beauty queen Mariel De Leon due to the latter’s comments regarding recent extrajudicial killings. This beauty queen is Mariel De Leon who previously shared her sentiments regarding the disturbing rise in the number of extrajudicial killings in the Philippines.
Her reaction was prompted by the questionable circumstances behind the death of 17-year-old student Kian Loyd Delos Santos that was recently being the topic all over the country. Mariel also lamented how Filipinos have gotten so used to the loss of life due to the war on drugs mainly because President Duterte encourages violence through his bloodthirsty rhetoric.
As a response to the clearly opinionated remark of the beauty queen, Mocha Uson who is a very much hard core Duterte supporter, lambasted Mariel De Leon on Facebook. Mocha mocked Mariel and implied that the beauty queen was just a pretty face and claims that there was difference between murder and killing a criminal. She also defended President Duterte and said that he does not condone the killing of innocents.
In addition to Mocha’s defense, the President is nothing new and that she has earned a reputation for being a very outspoken ally of President Duterte. She campaigned for him during the May 2016 elections and has continuously voiced her admiration and support for President Duterte’s hard stance on illegal drugs. Mocha’s loyalty has not gone unrewarded, for her unwavering support earned her a spot in the Duterte regime. In which, Mocha currently serves as assistant secretary for the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) that was given to her earlier this year.
Mariel De Leon has yet to respond to Mocha Uson as of this writing. However, it won’t as a surprise if she eventually does. This isn’t the first time that the two women have traded verbal jabs. Mariel previously called Mocha “undeserving” of being appointed PCOO assistant secretary. Mocha responded sarcastically by saying, “Sorry po Bb. Pilipinas. I’ll take note po of your tweets at pagbubutihin ko po para sa bayan at para sayo po.”
