As the Kapamilya comedian Vice Ganda blurted out something on his noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” which sounded too close to reality, people started making a fuss about it. When he blatantly joked about GMA Network and how its talents are recently switching to ABS-CBN was definitely a issue worth talking about and so people did. Now, someone on the other network spoke out about the issue and that is Michael V., whom is another comedian.
According to the interview of Philippine Entertainment Portal with Michael V., he actually took the matter in a light way and laughed it off. Some viewers were not amused with Vice’s statement because other comedians like Michael V. himself never reportedly went towards personally attacking someone at the expense of making jokes.
He said: “Ang hirap naman din kasi sa social media, parang lahat nagiging critic, lahat nagiging authority. Lahat nabibigyan ng karapatan na magsalita. Well, salamat, oo, nandudun na ako. Siyempre hindi ko naman maiaalis yun, dahil siguro nakikita nila yung loyalty, nakikita nila yung brand of humor.” “Pero Vice Ganda is Vice Ganda rin naman. Na nakilala natin siya sa ganung style, hindi natin maiiwasang… Hindi natin siya mapipigilan kung gusto niyang magsalita ng ganun, kasi may karapatan din naman siya to express, kung papa’no yung style niya ng pagpapatawa.”
Michael V. believed that Vice did not mean any of it and shared: “Tsaka I’m sure hindi niya naman mini-mean talaga, hindi niya gustong manakit nung binitiwan niya yung salitang yun. E, much as hindi kami close ni Vice, at hindi naman kami nagkakasama sa trabaho, I’m pretty sure maganda yung dahilan niya. Hindi masama.”
He laughed and continued saying: “Ano kasi… ano, e, parang hindi rin ako authority sa pagsasalita ng ganyan, kasi nanggaling din ako ng ABS! Lumipat ako ng Channel 5, lumipat ako ng Channel 7.” “Dito ako nagtagal, ilang years na ang Bubble Gang? Magtu-twenty-two [years] na ako sa GMA.” He also shared his secret to staying true to Channel 7 for more than 22 years: “Ang hirap sagutin ano? Kasi hindi ko masabing suweldo lang, e. Hindi naman yun, e, malalim na yung ano, e… Malalim na yung dahilan, na hindi na ako makahanap ng dahilan para umalis. Napagpapasensiyahan ko na yung mga problema… tumanda na siguro ako!” “Nag-mature kasi siguro ako sa GMA—career-wise tsaka personally. Spiritually rin, kaya parang pagka may mga problema, alam kong puwedeng maayos, hindi kailangang lumipat kaagad, hindi kailangang humanap ng dahilan. Siguro pag naghanap ka ng dahilan para lumipat, makakahanap at makakahanap ka. Pero pag naghanap ka ng dahilan para mag-stay, hindi ka na aalis.”
