Kapamilya Star Maricar Concepcion Pozon Reyes or famously known as Maricar Reyes-Poon, is a Filipina actress of Mindanao descent. She embodies not only a popular celebrity but a woman who is both intelligent and amazingly beautiful.
She was born on June 20, 1981 in Cagayan De Oro City, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. She finished her Bachelor in Science in Biology at Ateneo de Manila University and pursued studying medicine at the University of Santo Tomas and passed the board examination in 2008.
But despite being a successful woman in the medical field, she became an actress bit by bit through appearing in numerous TV and print advertisements not only in the Philippines but across Southeast Asia as well. During her time of studying medicine, she was doing part-time modeling as well. She has been a very successful actress and model throughout her time might as well up until today.
She is now happily married to singer Richard Poon last June 9, 2013 in a private Christian wedding. The two met at a Victory Christian Fellowship and dated since 2012. Now 4 years in their marriage, the two are still somewhat active in the entertainment industry.
Recently they guested in a Kapamilya morning show 'Magandang Buhay', where Maricar was asked regarding her profession as a general practitioner. According to her she wanted to help other people and not treat her profession as an occupation. She wants to be off service to others through what she has learned.
She said, “Ngayon ang tingin ko sa kanya, ayaw ko siyang pagkakitaan. Parang gusto kong mag-medical mission, mga ganyan. Pero as work? Parang baka hindi full-time job,” the actress-doctor stated."
Maricar explained, “Masaya ako na ito ang na-choose ko, masaya din naman ako sa kinalabasan ng buhay-buhay.” “At saka alam mo yung feeling na contented ka pero alam mo may pupuntahan ka, ‘yung gusto mo ‘yung mayroon ka ding mararating na iba,”
Also, she was glad that she had the opportunity to become an actress, for if it weren't for that then she couldn't have met Richard who is her husband.
