Studying in the Philippines is very expensive that’s why a lot of parents prepare and work hard for the future of their children, however this young man who is a son of a ‘’labandera’’ proved everyone that despite of their poverty he can finish his studies and achieve his dreams.
Frank and Nida Sinaban were not able to provide enough money to send their son Francis to college because of their situation. Nida later on decided to work as a ‘’Labandera’’ to fulfill their daily expenses but still not enough to send Francis to school. Due to his willingness to help Francis started to work in the age of 12 as a bottle cleaner earning 2php per day. ‘’naghuhugas ako noon ng 24 pcs na bote para sa halagang 2 php nagkaka sugatsugat na kamay ko pero tiniis ko para may pera kami’’. He stated Unfortunately his father had stroke and died in 2009 leaving all responsibilities to his mother. Nida earns 200-300 php and was able to raise Francis.
Nida encouraged Francis to study high school at the age of 17, at First francis hesitated because he thinks that he is too old for entering high school but Nida said’’ wala sa edad yun kung gusto mo mag aral, ayoko ang trabaho mo ay karpintero o nasa bukid lang’’ Francis followed his Mom and eventually graduated highschool, the he decided to support himself in college and worked as a fast-food crew. Recently Francis graduated college as a Cum Laude in his Batch.
He stated ‘’Hindi pa huli sa marathon. Hanggat may pangarap ka habulin mo lang , mas malayo yan kapag nakatayo ka lang at walang ginagawa. Pag hinahabol mo mas malapit ka sa finish line’’ francis is now encouraging young generations to pursue their dreams despite of their status in life. Truly his success made his mom proud but also stands as an inspiration to everyone.
