Along with other 39 awardees, a 49 year old woman , Josefina Amparo Hosena, was recently awarded in Singapore for Singapore’s 2017 Model Caregivers.
Josefina was currently taking care of Leona Heng who has a rare genetic disorder called ‘’Edwards syndrome’’ also known as ‘’Trisomy 18’’ the Edwards syndrome occur due to problems during the formation of the reproductive cells or during early development.
Babies are often born small and have heart defects. Other features include a small head, small jaw, clenched fists with overlapping fingers, and severe intellectual disability.
Hosena has been recognized for her dedicated effort in caring for Heng, Senior Minister of state for health Amy Khor, said that she is an example for many domestic helpers.
