Just a few weeks ago, the famous balladeer and the very first champion of the amateur singing contest of the Kapamilya Network “Tawag ng Tanghalan”, Noven Belleza was arrested for alleged rape charges at Cebu City. According to reports gathered, the singer was accused of molesting a friend of his after Vice Ganda’s “Pusuan Mo si Vice Ganda sa Cebu,” where Noven guested and took part in. Belleza was arrested on July 16, as he was charged with rape at first, his sentence was reduced to sexual assault which is why he was allowed to bail out of his hospital arrest for a total of P120,000.
Now, the Noven's camp is requesting to the authorities, to allow him to travel to New Jersey, USA for a concert. According to Philippine Entertainment Portal's (PEP)written article about the incident, the singer's concert will be taking place abroad on August 12 and 13. Reports stated that his lawyer filed a request to Regional Trial Court Branch 7 Judge James Stewart Himalaluan to allow the singer to leave the country on August 10 in order to make necessary preparations for his concert.
According to the request, the accused or the singer will not be a flight risk and his request for travel abroad for four days is necessary to comply with his singing engagement. According to his legal counsel Atty. Leilani Villarino, her client and his road manager has already signed the contract for the said concert way before the rape charges were filed against him and that the singer must attend the concert in order to avoid getting charged with “breach of contract” by the concert organizers.
The motion filed by the singer's camp stated that the performer needs to attend the concert because this is his only source of income after winning the “It’s Showtime” segment. They stated that the accused who was a farmer in Negros Oriental before he won the singing contest, has no other source of income to support his family other than his budding career.
