Randy Gerard Legaspi Santiago more commonly known as simply Randy Santiago, is a Kapamilya actor/comedian, television host, singer, songwriter, producer, director and entrepreneur. He is known for his iconic look of always having his mighty sunglasses around and an amazing singing voice that has been serenading the showbiz industry since ages ago.
Recently, Randy is part of the cast of La Luna Sangre, a 2017 Philippine horror-fantasy drama television series directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, together with Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and Richard Gutierrez which is the third installment of Lobo and the sequel to Imortal. Even in the show and after all these years, he is still wearing his signature sunglasses.
But there is actually a story behind his iconic sunglasses, actually Randy revealed in an interview in the morning show, "Magandang Buhay" where one of its host, Melai Cantiveros asked regarding his left eye which was actually the reason for his sunglasses.
According to him, Randy had difficulties in opening his left eye way back in first grade. It was found out that he had a cyst above his left eye, where it was eventually operated successfully. However in second grade, the cyst came back where unfortunately the surgeon made a mistake upon opening his left eye. The surgeon accidentally damaged a nerve in his left eye which is the reason for his condition right now.
Fortunately according to Randy, he is thankful that he was never bullied when he was young. He also said that rumors about a motorcycle accident for the reason of the condition of his left eye is a lie and despite his condition he is lucky to have a spot in the showbiz world. Despite his disability, he continues to work hard and is such an inspiration to everyone
