Bank of the Philippine Islands or BPI is the oldest bank in the Philippines, 4th largest in terms of assets, largest bank in terms of market capitalization, the country’s most profitable bank owned by Ayala Corporation, and also currently listed as Forbes largest bank in the Philippines in overall ranking .
Who would’ve thought that a glitch will happen to BPI which was awarded last 2010 as the ‘’strongest bank’’? Wednesday June 7, some employees stated that they lost a huge amount of money from their payroll accounts. Shocked clients seek for an answer for this unexpected event from BPI.
The ayala corp. claimed that there was an ‘’internal data processing error’’ and was ‘’ currently correcting mispostings’’ BPI president Cezar Consing apologized for the setback and said that there was a problem between April 27 to may 2 transactions because it was credited two times.
To assure the clients the president stated that this is not a hack but just an internal issue, however they guarantee to correct the mistakes happen.
Meanwhile, it is also revealed that someone’s account received 12 billion due to this internal error, while Yugatech revealed the alleged account who received it.
