Abaya or Hijab is a head covering worn by muslim women as a visible sign of their faith. It is a sacred garment that can be similar to the veil that nuns wear in catholic religion.
Margaux Justiniano Uson, or known as Mocha Uson a member of Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) was recently seen wearing abaya with president Rodrigo Duterte in Saudi Arabia.
Due to its religious meaning, a muslim woman reacted about the photo of Mocha, the woman grabbed the photo and posted it on twitter saying ‘’what youre wearing is a sacred for us; learning abt u, you’re famous fake news n porn star etc, in Philippines ; youre not worth to wear it.’’
Hearing the news the Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella defended Mocha by saying that she is a part of the official delegation of President Duterte in his middle East visit. He stated that ‘’she has a large following among Overseas Filipino communities specially in the middle east and it is in their interest that she has come to help boost morale and well being’’.
Also some netizens defended Mocha in the same twitter post of the muslim woman.
