Uplifting Story of a Blind Student who graduates Cum Laude!


What does it feel to graduate college? The moment you walk in the row with your classmates wearing cap and academic gown, your proud parents overwhelmed with happiness the goose-bumps you feel when you hear the music. It all starts when you entered college despite the differences you chose to be the best version of you.

Abdulaziz Dapilin 20 year old from Lamitan City , Basilan is diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome , Marfan Syndrome is an inherited disorder that affects the body’s connective tissue that maintains the structure of the body, support internal organs and other tissues, it commonly affects the heart, blood vessels, skeleton and the eyes.



In his case, the right eye was severely affected and went totally blind while his left was also visually challenged. There is no cure for Marfan syndrome, so the treatment only focuses on managing the symptoms and reducing complications.

Despite these difficulties, Dapilin is Graduating from Bachelor of Elementary Education Major in Special Education in Western Mindanao State University with latin honors as CUM LAUDE .
After passing LET (Licensure Exam for Teachers) in September. His dream is to help and inspire other students with special needs to achieve their Goals.



‘’I Praise Allah upon all conditions, for blessing me with a kind of disability that have caused encouragement and success rather than discouragement and failure,’’ he stated in his facebook account.

Many netizens commend Dapilin for his achievements also for inspiring everyone that nothing is imposible when you believe!
